Here is a look at the coach of the Duke University lacrosse team, John Danowski.
The team just won the national championship, but he outlined his philosophy years ago.
“This is going to sound really dumb, but it’s never been about winning,” Danowski said then. “Winning is a byproduct of a lot of things, of a foundation of athletes, of hard work, of a little bit of luck. It’s relationships with the people that I work with and the kids that I get to work with. That’s what it’s about for me. And maybe people don’t believe that, but it is. Winning, it’s awesome. But you also know that if the faceoff went the other way, I wouldn’t be sitting here maybe. I’ve been around long enough to know that, too, that it goes both ways.”
