More on Concussions

Here’s a follow-up on yesterday’s post on concussions. It concerns a fatality that occurred on the Montclair High School football team in New Jersey. It serves as a sobering reminder of the need for safety in all sports programs.

Another article, this one published a decade ago, details the end of a hockey career. Brett Lindros was a young player for the New York Islanders, but a series of concussions put him out of the National Hockey League by age 20.  Upon his retirement, Lindros cited two factors: the progressively longer time it took him to recover, and the possibilitiy of blindness.

Lindros’ brother Eric also suffered multiple concussions.

Many thanks to Kevin Reilly for pointing out the article on the Montclair player.
