The Secret to a Successful Day

“The smallest deed is better than the greatest intention.”— Anon

The first game of the big-league baseball season has come and gone, with more Opening Day games scheduled for today.

Last night Atlanta beat Philadelphia 4-1, in a result will stand forever. It’s a record of exactly what happened. It is NOT a record of:

What people hoped would happen;
What people planned to happen;
Or what people intended to happen.

It’s the same way with your life. What you do with the next 24 hours will form the record of your day. It won’t matter what you hoped to do, planned to do, or intended to do. After all, ANYONE can have good intentions. Only winners follow through on their intentions.

Here are three suggestions on how to make this day a meaningful one.

First, at the beginning of the day outline what you are going to do.

Second, spend your day doing it.

Third, at the end of the day review how much of what you INTENDED to do you actually did do.

The more often you DO what you SAY you are going to do, the more successful your life will be.

Coach Tully’s Extra Point: ”It is not good enough for things to be planned – they still have to be done; for the intention to become a reality, energy has to be launched into operation.” — Walt Kelly, creator of “Pogo” comic strip
