All How You Look at It

March 1 is one of my favorite days of the year because if you want to, you can call it the first day of spring.

It’s the start of meteorological spring, the three months between the statistically coldest and the statistically warmest days of the year.

Most people consider March 20 the first day of spring. It marks the vernal equinox, a day when day and night are exactly the same length.

OK, so what does all of this have to do with you and your excellence? Everything.

Whether we’re talking about the first day of spring or about the situations that arise in your life, it’s all a matter of how you look at it.

For example, some people look at competition as a threat. Others see opportunity. It’s all how you look at it.

Dave Cross, a peak performance coach, says, “No situation has any meaning except the one that you give it.”

There’s the story of two shoe salesmen who were dispatched to a remote area of the world. When the first one arrived, he immediately turned around and went home, but not before disgustedly messaging his office that people there wore no shoes.

When the second salesman arrived, he quickly set up shop and prepared to make a fortune, while gleefully telling his boss, “There’s no competition here!”

It’s all how you look at it.

Some people look as diets as taking something away. Others see a chance to improve health.

Everything is all how you look at it.
