The Power of Love

“I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you.” –– Roy Croft

Happy Valentine’s Day!

What is love?

Poets and philosophers have tried to answer the question for decades, and so I can’t hope to do it here. But here is a thought: Love is tied to values. It helps to define who you are; it helps decide what you will become.

My wife, Patty, has not only been my best friend, but also an influence trying to  push me to my better side. A story from Time magazine contains an anecdote about the influence that  First Lady Bess Truman exerted on her husband.

Here is an article about the love of John Wooden’s life.

Another article touches on all aspects of Wooden’s life: His love of baseball, his love of basketball, his love of teaching.
