Teamwork

This story comes courtesy of a homily at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid, N.Y.:

A man who could not walk met a man who could not see. It didn’t take the two of them very long to realize that they could make a perfect team. The man who could not see carried the man who could not walk on his shoulder. That way, the man who could not walk gained the ability to move, and the man who could not see gained vision.

Then one day, the man who could not walk said, “I hate to tell you this, but there is a lion straight ahead!” The man who could not see immediately left his teammate  and ran away. The man who could not walk was left to die, and the man who could not see ran straight into a bramble, and did not survive, either.

The moral: when teammates separate at the sight of danger, everybody loses.
